Chains are required on all vehicles except 4-wheel-drive vehicles with snow tires on all 4 wheels from 2.2 mi north of Truckee (Nevada Co) to 11 mi north of Truckee (Sierra Co)
Chains or snow tires are required from 13 mi north of the Jct of SR 299 to 18 mi north of the Jct of SR 299 (Shasta Co)
